The Superior Court hears civil matters for outstanding amounts or return of property valued at over $25,000. It also hears particularly complex matters that have been sent to it from the Small Claims Court. The Superior Court holds a hearing based on submissions of the parties as well as any evidence or witnesses the parties may provide the court in support of their claim.

The Ontario Court of Justice hears matters where there has been a violation of any provincial laws. Where parties have been charged with offences under any of the provincial acts, they will have an opportunity to make submissions, provide evidence and witnesses to support their claims and make their defence. The Court can make decisions quickly, so it is important to know your rights, and take the appropriate time to make submissions and provide evidence.
